HISTORY OF TERRA

Welcome to the History of Terra! In this page, I cover the events of Mega Man Legends in chronological order.

PRE MEGAMAN LEGENDS PART-1 :

Thousands of years in the future, the world was flooded with water. The flooding was presumably because of global warming and melting of the ice caps. Only tiny islands remained above sea level and surround the planet’s surface.

Earth, or also known as “Terra,” was inhabited by the Carbons (also known as “Decoys”) . Carbons were artificial humans created by the original human beings.

The original humans did not live on Terra. They lived on an artificial man-made planet called Elysium(also known as “Heaven”) . Elysium was created in such a way that the original humans living there were provided freedom from hunger, diseases, and physical pain. In a sense, they were blessed with immortality.

There were two androids with positronic brains, known as Sera and Yuna. Both of them were also known as the Mother Units. The mother units served the Master, the last living human who lived on Elysium. Sera administered the laws and processes of Elysium, while Yuna oversaw Terra.

The Master’s closest friend and servant was an android whose name was MegaMan Trigger. MegaMan Trigger was a first-class “Purifier Unit”(also known as irregular hunter) , whose main purpose is to hunt down and destroy any rogue units that threaten the systems of Terra and Elysium, known as “Abberant Units”( or irregulars).

While humans in the Elysium enjoyed eternal paradise and freedom from diseases, things weren’t so swell for the Carbons.

Carbons were created by the humans in order to preserve human culture, so the humans in the Elysium would let Carbons make technological and scientific progress only until a certain level

Humans created androids units which served the elysium and managed carbon population , these were called “Beuracratic units” (also known as “3rd class municipal officer) . Within every few centuries, when terra gets overpopulated with carbons,the beuracratic units would order Eden, a huge space satellite which deployed weaponized machines known as worker units (known as Reaverbots, also known as reavered) to purge and kill the Carbons. After all the Carbons have been killed, they would produce new ones. In this way, the humans and the Bureaucratic Units could maintain control on Carbon population and its progress.

But things started to get worse. For some unknown reason, humans in Elysium started to die one by one. Soon, all the humans became extinct. Only the Master remained.

Now being the last human alive, master continues his reign alongside other elysium units.

The Master continued to rule for three thousand years, killing and replacing Carbons. His life became mundane and meaningless… until one day, he realized the true potential of the Carbons. They faced hunger, hardships, and death. In spite of all of this, they managed to find true happiness.

Master then requested Megaman Trigger to escort him to Terra.

The master handed trigger a good luck charm which contained his human genetic data.

On Terra, the Master ordered Trigger to destroy the Master System, an emergency protocol of Elysium’s library that would activate “the Carbon Reinitialization Program,”(also known as “Humanity regeneration program) which would destroy all the Carbons and clone back all the original humans.

Trigger agreed to the last wishes of the Master & soon the Master died on Terra. Trigger, now was on his way to destroy the Master system.

But the news of Master’s death reached the ears of Mother Units, Sera and Yuna. Sera believed that the first class Purifier Unit Megaman Trigger, had killed the master. Thus, Megaman was labeled an Aberrant Unit himself. Yuna was doubtful of the news and wanted to get a second opinion, so she took a neutral position, neither fighting against trigger nor Sera.

Sera was frustrated with Yuna’s decision and decided to take matters into her own hands. She arrived at Terra and started to battle Trigger. The two of them ferociously faught to a standstill, each having depleted all of their energy. During the battle, Trigger’s body was damaged beyond repair. Yuna took this opportunity to seal both him and Sera in stasis fields.

Sera,  was sealed in Forbidden Island, along with her Servitor unit (servent) Geetz (also known as jiji) . Meanwhile, MegaMan Trigger was sealed on Nino Island.

Before being sealed in the stasis field, Yuna transferred transferred all of Trigger’s memories into a robotic monkey named Data. She also reset his body structure from an android to that of an organic Carbon newborn child. Trigger was no longer an android, but rather a Carbon.

Thus, both MegaMan Trigger and Mother Unit Sera were deactivated and sealed on Terra. Yuna guarded Sera’s stasis field on Forbidden Island, while Trigger remained on Nino Island.

PRE MEGAMAN LEGENDS PART-2

MegaMan Trigger and Mother Unit Sera were sealed on Nino Island and Forbidden Island respectively. Mother Unit Yuna and her Servitor Unit (servent) Gatz (also known as gaga) were guarding Sera’s stasis field. It is believed that Sera’s stasis field is what caused an everlasting snowstorm on Forbidden Island.

On Terra (earth) carbon population started to thrive and flourish once again.

(NOTE: carbons are artificial humans created by the original human beings. But the carbons don’t know that they are artificial, they think that they are the “humans”. The carbons are also not aware of the forces that control Thier population and technological progress, because Elysium and its forces destroy and reproduce carbons. Thus the carbon population progress is constantly being reset and destroyed. In short carbon population is being artificially manipulated. )

Now that the carbon population was flourishing, Terra was going under an energy crisis. This crisis was mainly because of shortage of resources to power up electrical appliances, motor vehicles etc.

But soon the carbons discovered remains of an abandoned ancient underground civilisation. The carbons called these underground civilisations as “Ruins”. There were thousands of discovered and undiscovered ruins all over Terra.

Ruins contained a lot of ancient technologies and Quantum Refractors(also known as deflectors) , a crystal like energy source which could power up all sorts of machines. The Carbons came to know of this and started to venture into the ruins to find Refractors in order to solve the energy crisis. The machines which would be operated using refractors as a fuel source were known as “Holon technology”.

The people who would venture into the ruins to search for quantum refractors and ancient technology were called “Diggers” (also known as digouter) .

But the ruins also contained ancient robots of unknown origin. These robots were called “reverbots” by the carbons. The reverbots would also attack any digger or carbon in visible range or sight.

Some underground ruins were considered more dangerous than others, and it seemed very risky to just send off Diggers into unexplored ruins. To control Digger’s activities in the ruins, the “Digger’s Guild” was founded. The Digger’s Guild was a group that watched over the Diggers. They would ensure and check if a Digger had the proper license, qualification and skill to explore the underground ruins.

Some time later, a rumor spread among the Diggers. Allegedly, there existed a treasure which could provide infinite wealth and energy. This could solve the energy crisis of the world. This treasure was called ” The Mother Lode”. As this rumor quickly spread, Diggers all over the world started to explore the underground ruins, in search of the Mother Lode.

There were four major ruins on Terra . Each one of them on Manda Island, Nino Island, Saul Kada Island and Calinca Island. Carbons believed that within these four ruins, a god or a divine entity existed. So, the Carbons sealed the entrances to these ruins, never to enter them again. The ruins on Nino Island were sealed by the Digger’s Guild. Soon after, they established their base and headquarters on that island.

Some Diggers headed towards Forbidden Island in search of Refractors, ancient technology, and presumably the Mother Lode; all the Diggers who ventured into Forbidden Island never returned.

There was a world renowned digger and a proffesor. His name was Barrell caskett.

Barrell Caskett had a best friend by the name of Verner Von Bluecher.

Von Bluecher was born in Yosyonke City in Calinca Island. People of Calinca Island believed in the religion of the “two goddesses”, one ruled the land and other ruled the sky. Von Bluecher believed that the earth goddess and the Mother Lode were located on Forbidden Island.

Von Bluecher and Professor Caskett wanted to visit and explore Forbidden Island. There was one problem, though: Forbidden Island was constantly covered by heavy snowstorms, so any normal ship would be turned away by the winds, leading to its destruction. However, both of them discovered something: the “eye” of the storm was above the island and the air pressure there was relatively light. So using the eye of the storm reaching Forbidden Island seemed to be possible.

So, both of them designed a ship with a rounded aerodynamic hull, and reinforced it to withstand atmospheric pressure above the island.

After designing the ship, both of them headed towards Forbidden Island. Unfortunately, the ship, upon entering the island, could not survive the air pressure and therefore got destroyed. But despite the brutal conditions, they managed to land on Forbidden Island safe and sound. Since the cost of reaching Forbidden Island was the destruction of their ship and equipment, making it impossible for them to return home, both of them decided to make most of their situation by exploring Forbidden Island.

On their expedition, Von Bluecher and Barrell encountered a number of Reaverbots Unfortunately, without their ship and equipment, both of them found it hard to defend themselves from both the Reaverbots and the harsh weather. Despite all this, the duo managed to push onward and continue their exploration until they finally found Sera’s diamond shaped stasis capsule. Barrell and Bluecher had never seen such a thing before. Both of them thought it was some sort of diamond shaped ancient relic or artifact. But by the time they reached it both of them used up all their energy and grew tired. They fell unconscious as soon as they saw the artifact. Just a moment before Professor Barrell grew unconscious, he saw a green haired figure walking towards him.

After a while, both Barrell and Von Bluecher regained consciousness. To their surprise, both of them found themselves on the outskirts of Yosyonke Island. Throughout the span of history, out of all the Diggers who have made it into Forbidden Island, none of them returned – let alone stay alive – And they were the first ones to make it out of the island in perfectly fine condition! Professor Barrell started to wonder, “How did we manage to escape from Forbidden Island in the first place. The truth was, while Barrell and Von Bluecher were unconscious, the green haired girl (who was Yuna), escorted both of them outside Forbidden Island and placed them on Yosyonke Island.

Professor Barrell Caskett had a daughter whose name was Mathilda. Mathilda married a man named Banner. Banner was a digger, mechanic and an brilliant engineer.

Mathilda and banner had a daughter. Her name was Roll Caskett. Roll Caskett grew up to be a great mechanic and an engineer.

But while Roll was still a child, presumably around one or two years old , Mathilda and Banner decided to visit forbidden island.

Since Forbidden Island could not be approached using a normal air ship, Banner designed a special type of vessel specifically designed for landing on Forbidden Island, called the “Dropship.”

After designing the Dropship, Matilda and Banner were ready to explore Forbidden Island. Before that, Matilda dropped her daughter Roll, at their neighbor’s house and informed her father Barrell, about this in a letter. After ensuring Roll’s safety and Barrell’s acknowledgment, she and Banner set out to Forbidden Island.

After Matilda and Banner landed on Forbidden Island, they started to explore. After a while, due to unknown circumstances, both of them were very injured and on the verge of death; Banner lost an arm! Fortunately, at that moment, Yuna encountered both of them in their dire condition. She transferred some of her nanomachines to Matilda’s body in order to heal her. But Yuna had transferred so much of them that she was unable to move, so she had to possess Matilda’s body in the end. Yuna’s original body was stored in the Caskett Dropship at Forbidden Island, thus remaining untouched.

Now in possession of Matilda’s body, Yuna rescued Banner from Forbidden Island and dropped him in an unconscious state at Calinca Island, without anyone knowing. He was found unconscious and hurt at the outskirts of Yosyonke city, but the citizens of Yosyonke city were kind enough to provide him treatment for his wounds and to give him a place to stay. Banner had amnesia when he regained consciousness, to such an extent that he could not even remember his name or past life events. He adopted “Joseph” as his new name and got a robotic arm to replace the one he lost. He also now supports a blocky-faced appearance.

Despite losing his memories, Joseph still retained his engineering skills . He still created various types of machines and equipment, including a replica of the original Dropship. We can speculate that he got the items to create the machines he wanted from the Calinca Ruins. Joseph married Maria, a bartender in Yosyonke city. Both of them lived happily with their daughter (we don’t know her name).

Since Matilda and Banner never returned home, others though that both of them were dead. So thought Barrell, as he was emotionally shook. A few years later, Barrell visited Nino Island. Apart from housing one of the Mother Lode Ruins, Nino Island was also the headquarters of the Digger’s guild. The leader of the Digger’s guild was the guild master.

Barrell sneaked into Nino Island’s underground ruins without the Guildmaster’s permission. At the entrance of the ruins, he found a diamond like floating object. It was MegaMan Trigger’s stasis capsule. As Barrel touched the diamond capsule, it melted, revealing a small baby and a robotic monkey. Without informing the anyone, He adopted the baby and the monkey. Barrell’s granddaughter Roll named the baby MegaMan Volnutt, after her favorite video game character. MegaMan Volnutt was basically Trigger who grew up with the Caskett family without knowing anything about his past life, thus becoming a new person.

Soon, MegaMan Volnutt grew up to be a teenager and became the Caskett family’s main Digger. Roll acted as the Spotter, supporting MegaMan on his digs by alerting him of obstacles and treasures in ruins through her radar and sonar technology. The Caskett family, with their brilliant engineer skills, created a digging armor for MegaMan. Thus MegaMan, Roll, and Barrell set out on various digging adventures, some of which were to determine the future of Terra.
